You don’t have to try to get all your questions in during a short live class. This more leisurely style of class may be just what you’re looking for with your busy schedule!

Day 6: Heady Affairs Blog Tour

His name may be a new one for you in the crochet design world, but it certainly won’t be new for long. Shannon Mullett-Bowslby. A quick look at Ravelry shows that his first magazine published design came to us in “Inside Crochet” magazine in October 2010 and just look at him now! 50+ designs published in less than a year! He practically took over the current issue of “Crochet!” magazine with four new designs.

What intrigues me most about Shannon’s work is that I love to see a man’s take on crochet design. No, a male crochet designer is no longer a novelty. The Crochet Dude, Drew Emborsky, has proven to us that male designers are out there and they’re doing amazing work. So, we can no longer be shocked.

I really appreciate seeing the design aesthetic from a male perspective and I’ve loved every minute of seeing Shannon’s progress in our crochet world.

Shannon shows great passion and inspiration in everything he does from gardening to preserving food to crochet design (and everything in between). Just take a look at this new book from Leisure Arts called Heady Affairs.

7 new hat designs and these aren’t your ordinary hats. All of them are incredibly unique. And, every one of them screams “Hey, that’s a great hat!”

My favorite hat in this book is the Aviator/Steampunk. I love that I look at it and my first thought is, “Wow, that is a really cool texture, how’d he do that?”

When I asked Brianna about her favorite hat in the book, the Aviator is also the one she picked “only in different colors” ha! And, I just happen to have some Naturally Caron Country right here for her. Maybe she’ll want to learn to crochet. :-)

I’m a big fan of slouchy/beret style hats so I really love this one as well. And, isn’t it awesome that almost all the hats in the book are modeled by both a boy and a girl? So versatile!

I know you’re going to want to pick up this book right away. The holidays are just around the corner and it’s time to start thinking about gifts. I’m sure these hats will be terrific for several on your list. Visit Leisure Arts for more information on purchasing here.

And, how about another drawing? You guys did so well last time with your food choices. How about leaving a comment below telling me your favorite winter-y holiday food. The one you’ve been waiting for all year. The one that speaks to you and lets you know that the holidays have arrived. Just post that favorite food in the comments below and I’ll have a random computerized drawing at the end of the Blog Tour. Here’s your chance to win this terrific book from Leisure Arts.
